We'd like to say an absolutely huge THANK YOU to everyone who has booked The Magic Tones to be their wedding band this summer. It's been our busiest season ever and we have loved every second!
Although we're a covers band based in Hampshire, we've been all over the country over the past few months. Our travels have taken us from Derbyshire to Dartford, Somerset to Southampton and everywhere in between. So we thought we'd share with you a few of our particular highlights (although there really are too many to count) starting with possibly the best wedding cake we've ever seen...
We snapped this cake at The Hurlingham Club in London for Josie and Pyrd's awesome wedding. Not only, did the Bride change into a party dress for the evening party; not only did they have a fully choreographed routine for their first dance, complete with 'Dirty Dancing' style lifts; not only did the Mother-of-the-Groom give us all homemade jam as a present, but they had this AMAZING cake as well! This jet-setting couple thought they'd illustrate their travels through the medium of cake (which also tasted delicious, if you're interested) and we just couldn't believe the detail on it - even those passports were edible icing!
Now doing this job, we're lucky enough to perform in some pretty impressive venues, but August took us to Exeter, and a very impressive venue indeed, Powderham Castle.
This fortified, Grade I listed manor house just blew us away, not least because there was a family still living there (The Earls of Devon, by the way) but because of the gorgeous room we got to play in. Think old portraits, suits of armour, Downton Abbey....you get the impression. It was pretty spectacular, that's for sure.
One venue that we always love going back to time and time again is Farbridge Barns. Set in the glorious Chichester countryside, with sheep roaming the lavendar fields and ducks in the pond, it truly is a beautiful place to tie the knot. The staff are always lovely, the food is always amazing and we have always had a fantastic reception. We think this photo of Adam, the Groom at one of the weddings we played here, pretty much sums up our feelings about this cracking place...
A brand new venue for us this year (that we ended up performing at twice in the same week!) was Parley Manor. We love returning to favourite venues, but it's also really exciting going somewhere new, and Parley Manor is absolutely lovely! A beautiful marquee set in the grounds of the gorgeous Georgian manor house makes for a beautiful setting to get hitched. Absolutely perfect.
Thank you so much to all the wonderful Brides, Grooms and their guests for helping make a job, well, not really like a job at all! It's been a pleasure performing for you all, and sharing in your big days... turns out that love is all you need.
